Tata Sons chairman to co-chair task force for transforming Andhra Pradesh


Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), Aug 16 (PTI) Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said here that Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran will co-chair the Task Force for Economic Development, for achieving a Swarna (golden) Andhra Pradesh by 2047.

The Tata Sons chairman, who called on the Chief Minister today, would be a part of the task force, which comprises intellectuals and industry leaders.

"The GoAP (government of Andhra Pradesh) is forming a Task Force for Economic Development of Swarna Andhra Pradesh,,,I'm delighted to announce that Chandrasekaran will co-chair this Task Force," said Naidu in a post on 'X'.

Calling Chandrasekaran an old friend, the CM observed that the Tata Group has also agreed to team up with the state for the Centre for Global Leadership on Competitiveness to be established in Amaravati by the Confederation of Industry (CII).

Further, Naidu said he and Chandrasekaran explored opportunities for setting up a TCS development centre in Visakhapatnam, and also enhance the state's air connectivity through Air India and Vistara, among other partnerships and sectors.

IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh and Industries Minister TG Bharat also met the top Tata executive.

Meanwhile, a Bar Council of India delegation led by its chairman Manan Kumar Mishra called on the chief minister today at the Secretariat and proposed an institution in Andhra Pradesh on the lines of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru and India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER), Goa.

"Met with a delegation of BCI today, led by senior advocate and chairman, Manam Kumar Mishra. Marking a significant step towards further elevating legal education in India, the BCI trust Pearl First has proposed to establish a new premier university in Andhra Pradesh," said Naidu in a post on 'X'.

According to the CM, this new institution would also have a world-class arbitration centre to foster international collaborations to bolster higher education and skill development in the realm of law and allied areas.

Further, the CM also met with a CII delegation, led by its director general Chandrajit Banerjee, about the establishment of Global Leadership on Competitiveness (GLC) in Amaravati.

"The GoAP and CII are planning to establish a GoAP-CII Industry Forum to implement the recommendations of the Taskforce on Economic Development," he said.

Moreover, the southern state and the industry body will also focus on enhancing the skills and employability of Andhra Pradesh youth through programmes such as CII Multi-Skill Training Institute (MSTI) and CII Model Career Centre (MCC). PTI STH KH
