Road crash in UP leaves two dead

Shahjahanpur (UP), Aug 18 (PTI) A pickup van rammed into a tree here, leaving two people dead and 17 others injured on Sunday, police said.

The accident took place when devotees of a sect were en route to a religious gathering in Sitapur from Haridwar, Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena told PTI.

Meena said the accident took place as the driver of the van apparently dozed off at the wheel.

The deceased were identified as Radheshyam (50) and Bairamo (50), police said, adding 10 of the injured were women. PTI COR CDN OZ DV DV
