Celebrate India's Musical Heritage at NCPA HSBC Bandish - A three-day tribute to legendary composers, featuring eminent artistes and timeless compositions.


Mumbai, 29th July 2024 - The National Centre for Performing Arts and HSBC India have come together to bring to life India's biggest Indian Music Festival - Bandish. This three-day festival celebrates the timeless compositions of legendary Indian composers, featuring eminent artistes’ performances from pre-independence and post-independence eras. From August 2nd to 4th, music enthusiasts are invited to immerse themselves in a journey through India's classical and folk traditions, featuring a lineup that spans the rich tapestry of Indian music genres.

The event commences at the Tata Theatre with legendary singer Umakant Gundecha and his nephew Anant Ramakant Gundecha performing compositions by iconic figures like Tansen, Baiju, and their guru, Swami Haridas. This recital promises to be a journey into the depths of classical Indian music, revealing the intricate and meditative essence of dhrupad.

Sanjeev Abhyankar, an acclaimed vocalist of the Mewati gharana, will also present a selection of Khayal, haveli sangeet, and Sanskrit pad. His repertoire will feature compositions by the revered Jasraj, showcasing the spiritual and expressive dimensions of classical Indian music. Tickets, inclusive of GST, are priced at ₹360, ₹540, ₹720 for members, and ₹400, ₹600, and ₹800 for non-members.

The second day of the event will see Malini Awasthi, an eminent artiste from the Banaras Gharana, performing a diverse range of semi-classical and folk music genres at the Tata Theatre. Trained under the illustrious Girija Devi, Malini Awasthi is known for her contributions to genres like Thumri, Dadra, Kajri, Chaiti, Sawan, and Jhoola. Her performance will include compositions by poets such as Bharatendu, Ramprasad Mishra (Ramuji), Sajile, and Chhabile, sung in the Kashika dialect, providing a vibrant and authentic experience of regional Indian music. Tickets, inclusive of GST, are priced at ₹360, ₹450, ₹540 for members, and ₹400, ₹500, and ₹600 for non-members.

The festival concludes at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre with a program hosted by Yunus Khan and curated by Uttam Singh, featuring compositions by Naushad and Madan Mohan. Performers Vibhavari Apte Joshi, Anwesshaa, Smita Adhikary, Hrishikesh Ranade, and Rajesh Panwar will be accompanied by an orchestra of over 40 musicians. Tickets, which are inclusive of GST, are priced at ₹540, ₹810, ₹1080, ₹1440, and ₹1800 for members, and ₹600, ₹900, ₹1200, ₹1600, and ₹2000 for non members.
